Inauguration of State Partnership Energy Efficiency Demonstration Program Under – Power Department, State Designated Agency.
Nar Bahadur Bhandari Government College, in collaboration with Power Department, State Designated Agency (SDA) proudly inaugurated the Demonstration Project on Replacement of Conventional Lights & Fans of NBBGC, Tadong with LEDs and energy-efficient fans today, marking a significant milestone in the pursuit of energy conservation and sustainable development.
This project comes under the State Partnership for Energy Efficiency Demonstrations (SPEED) which aims to showcase the effectiveness of the most energy efficient device / technology through a practical demonstration. SDA has carried out many such demonstration projects throughout the state and has managed to save about 4.6665396 million units in total through these projects till date.
The ceremony, graced by the presence of esteemed dignitaries, witnessed the honorable Member of Legislative Assembly, Mr. G.T. Dhungyal as chief guest accompanied by the honorable Minister of Power Department, Mr. M.N. Sherpa, along with higher officials of Power Department.
The inauguration ceremony commenced with a warm welcome extended to the esteemed guests and attendees by Additional Chief Engineer-cum-Nodal officer SDA Mr. Pemba Lepcha.
A power point presentation regarding energy conservation and its importance was delivered by Mr. Pravesh Pradhan, Technical Consultant (SDA) focusing on global warming due to use of fossil fuels and its harmful effects on environment. The informative session shed light on the importance of energy conservation and provided practical insights into reducing energy consumption in various aspects of daily life.
Mr. M.N. Sherpa, in his keynote address, emphasized the crucial role played by SDA in driving energy conservation and promoting sustainable practices. He further stressed the need for collective efforts to address the energy challenges faced by our nation.
Accompanying Mr. Sherpa, Mr. G.T Dhungyal, Member of Legislative Assembly, applauded SDA’s initiative, highlighting the project’s potential to create awareness among the students and inspire them to become future leaders in the field of energy conservation.
The project at NBBGC Tadong incorporates the latest energy-efficient lighting systems, replacing traditional lighting with high-quality LED fixtures. The project encompasses the entire campus, including classrooms, laboratories and administrative block. The implementation of this eco-friendly solution is expected to result in substantial energy savings, reduced electricity bills, and a significant reduction in the college’s carbon footprint.
The inauguration ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Sigratha Pradhan, Executive Engineer, SDA to all attendees, including faculty members, students, dignitaries, and media personnel, for their participation and support. The Demonstration Project at NBBGC, Tadong serves as an inspiration for other institutions to adopt energy-efficient practices and contribute to greener future.
